Cortec Corp. founder Boris Miksic's philosophy is to "protect and serve." No, Miksic isn't a cop -although Cortec's core technology does arrest chemical corrosion in everything from printed circuit board components to tanker holds. That's where "protect" part comes in: Cortec's patented VpCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors) protect both ferrous metals against humidity and corrosive industrial, marine, and tropical environments. Long ago, Miksic recognized the corrosion-protection potential of molecular-barrier technology. He figured if he developed that technology, it could be an environmentally and worker friendly safe way to protect metal. Three decades later, Cortec has developed nearly 400 products - either pure inhibitors for use as an additives or finished products ready to be applied. The invisible protective ionic layer of Cortec's VpCI doesn't alter important surface properties, even for most precision electronic devices where conductivity, permittivity and dimensional tolerances are crucial. The "serve" part of Miksic's business approach? For three years, Miksic, a huge tennis fan, was the lead sponsor behind the $50,000 Cortec USTA Women's Tournament, the only professional women's tennis tournament in the state. Combine his twin passions of tennis and technology and you've got quite the protection racquet. www.cortecvci.com
